Brett Gelnovatch is a multimedia installation artist who works between architecture, sculpture, performance, and sound. Their current work focuses on the absence between accumulation and release in the context of gender, identity, and loss. The work, in particular, though influenced by the artist's gender transition, tries to resist categorization as such. Instead, it delves into the mythical, the hypnagogic, and the incantatory to tackle issues of the self and the body that extend well beyond the confines of such classifications.
